René Skupý (*1979) first got into contact with the Japanese culture at the age of 13 during the practice of the Japanese martial art Aikido, and a few years later, when he was 19 years old, he began to study Japanese calligraphy at a course organized by the Japanese school in Prague. After graduation from high school he studied Japanese at the Czech-Japanese association, and continued with a one year graduate education of Japanese language at “Language Centre David Holis.” After approximately four years’ work as an interpreter and assistant for general managers of Japanese companies in the Czech Republic he decided to improve his Japanese and in April 2008 went to study Japanese language to Tokyo. In March 2009 he completed the advanced course in language school “Topa 21”. As a language teacher he has experience with teaching Japanese to Czech employees at “Daiho Ltd.” in Pilsen, and teaching English at “Smith Eikaiwa” school and at a culture centre in Suginami (Tokyo). As a teacher he also has a long time experience with the teaching of the Japanese martial art Aikido to adults and children. In 2006 he won the 1st place at a 30th competition in Japanese recital “Nihongo benron taikai” in Prague.
